How often should I practice?
It is recommended to practice at least 3 times per week, however if you cannot make it to the studio that often, we understand. Just remember any yoga is better than no yoga! Making time for a yoga practice is essential to your well-being, even if it is taking a few minutes out of your day to breathe and do a stretch or two!
Will I lose weight?
There are many factors that contribute to losing weight. Consider the following: What is your lifestyle? What is your diet? How often do you engage in physical activity? Practicing yoga, in addition to eating healthy and making healthy lifestyle choices, will make you look and feel better. You will burn calories, tone your muscles, and improve your posture if you practice yoga regularly.
Is it o.k. to practice yoga if pregnant?
If you have practiced yoga before becoming pregnant, it is o.k. to continue your practice if your doctor gives you permission. It is important to notify the instructor if you are pregnant and which trimester you are in. We highly recommend scheduling private lessons if interested in pre-natal yoga. Some helpful tips:
Don't do any asanas (poses) on your back after the first trimester. It can reduce blood flow to the uterus. Avoid poses that stretch the muscles too much, particularly the abdominals. From the second trimester on, when your center of gravity really starts to shift, do any standing poses with your heel to the wall or use a chair for support, to avoid losing your balance and risking injury to yourself or your baby.
