Classes

The Yoga Attic teaches Vinyasa Style Yoga. Vinyasa literally means breath-synchronized movement. We utilize breathing techniques while moving or "flowing" through a wide variety of yoga poses. Our practice is dynamic, and includes Vinyasa Flow and Power Yoga, as well as Beginner classes and private lessons. Each class is taught to accommodate everyone, as yoga is a practice of self-awareness and well-being. We encourage those new to yoga to try all of our classes, simply have an open mind, and BREATHE.

The Vinyasa Flow Class, a smooth, fluid series of yoga postures designed for all levels of students. Through body awareness and breath work, we build strength, enhance flexibility and quiet the mind. This is an ideal practice for those who simply want to de-stress from the daily stressors of life.

The Power Yoga Class, typically referred to as ‘hot yoga’ is for those who enjoy a full body workout including cardio, strength training, shedding unwanted body fat and toning, while increasing flexibility and energy. While our bodies produce their own heat and energy, we like to keep the studio warm to allow the body to sweat and release unwanted toxins. In the winter months the studio is kept at around 80 degrees. In the summer months, the studio is warmer as we allow the natural sunlight to heat the room.

New To Yoga?

Who Can Practice? Anyone & Everyone! No one is "too young, too old, too big, too small, too weak, too hyper, too inflexible, too clumsy" or any of the other excuses used. Yoga can actually be used to overcome many of these things. For those that are worried about physical ability, listen to your body. If you need to rest, take child's pose on your mat and BREATHE!

Why Practice? The asanas (poses) have become popular as a form of exercise here in the west because of the numerous physiological benefits they've been found to possess. These include improved balance, flexibility, stamina, circulation, respiratory function, digestion, muscle tone, and strength. Yoga also reduces emotional tension and stress and improves abilities of the mind such as concentration. It can be just plain fun too!

What to bring to class? It is highly recommended you bring water, Gatorade and/or Vitamin Water, to stay hydrated throughout class. Also, bring a yoga mat and towels. (Drinks and yoga items can be purchased at the studio, as well!)
